This year, my health goal is to focus on my hormones to make sure that they are well balanced (due to birthing three kids in the past three years). One way to achieve this is by switching from pad to a silicone menstrual cup as it provides a visual of how healthy our body is internally.
Here is my quick and honest review of two common cups/discs on the market that I wore for two cycles (one cycle for each).
DivaCup
The first insertion was extremely uncomfortable and on that day, I kept re-adjusting my cup. As I was going on about my day, all I could think about was the DivaCup that I was wearing because it was all that I could feel. For my first cycle, it wasn’t easy to get use to. Nixit
The first insertion went in so smooth and I couldn’t feel anything! Nixit’s silicone is much thinner and flexible compared to the DivaCup. However, it didn’t hold anything in the disc. Rather it acted more as a barrier. On the third day of my cycle, I was in unbearable pain that I had to remove the Nixit for good. (Purchase it here: https://amzn.to/44iVuT7)
After going through both experiences, I have decided to stick with the DivaCup because I have had less pain wearing it and it does its job of holding fluids - the Nixit didn’t do that for me.
Have you ever tried a reusable menstrual cup? If so, how was your experience?
